Sarah Burton Receives OBE, Wants To Design Maternity Wear For Guess Who

Mcqueen 300 400
Remember when Sarah Burton was pretty much unknown at McQueen? Nope, neither do we. In the last couple of years the designer has stepped out of the shadows to prove that she is a tailor-made heir to the late, great designer's throne and has been praised for beautifully putting her own stamp on the avant-garde label.
Oh. And there was also that business about a wedding dress.
Today, Alexander McQueen's creative director was singled out by Buckingham Palce once again, this time receiving an OBE from Prince Charles. Burton was named in the QE2's 2012 Birthday Honour's List back in June, and officially became an Officer of the British Empire for her services to British fashion in a ceremony today at Buckingham Palace.

According to the
Telegraph
, the designer had a bit of a chat with Prince Charles when he handed over the award (those guys go way back) and she told the prince how thrilled she is about Kate's pregnancy. Also, that she'd love to design the duchess' maternity wardrobe. Given that the designer is currently pregnant with twins, she's almost too qualified for the job. And who knows where royal maternity-wear could lead? Baby McQueen? We're getting visions of tiny armadillo booties...
