Hot on the heels of Fashion Week, we still can't seem to escape Lincoln Center. Beginning this Thursday at their annual and always glamourous Opening Night Gala, comes the start of an exciting season for the New York City Ballet, featuring one of today's most-admired designers (not to mention her Beatle father). Paul and Stella McCartney have teamed with NYCB and their esteemed Ballet Master in Chief and choreographer, Peter Martins, to adapt a subaquatic dance, romance spectacular—a first for the father/daughter pair. Ocean's Kingdom enters the New York City Ballet repertoire with Sir McCartney's score coming to life, and Stella's designs taking form in an unprecedented way. And, because we love a great teaser, we've got the costume sketches to make you ooh and aah before the curtain even rises. Also check out the accompanying makeup drawings by Pat McGrath! Is it weird that we kind of wanna wear point shoes now?
Performances dates are still open in September and January at the Ballet box office.
