Yarn bombing is an epidemic. And we're giving our West-Coast besties a fair waring; We've seen NYC bikes, street
lamps, and even our beloved Wall-Street bull statute yarn bombed
halfway to oblivion and, as yet, no one has been able to stop it. Even
Sunglass Hut has fallen prey to the yarn bombers as the notoriously
crafty KNITTA (a.k.a. artist Magda Sayeg) has taken some of the
eyewear purveyor's best styles and hand-wrapped them in one-of-a-kind
kaleidoscopic patterns. Sure, you could pick up a of these colorful,
charming shades to block the SoCal sun. Yes, they probably would go with any multi-color
outfit or brighten up any monochromatic look. And, true, Sunglass Hut
will donate $30 to OneSight, making glasses available to those in
need. But it's a slippery slope. One day it's bikes and sunnies,
and the next thing you know – BAM – all of West Hollywood Boulevard has been yarn
bombed beyond recognition. So remember, if you don't want to see giant
palm trees wrapped in beautiful, bizarre, wooly, rainbow patterns,
stay away from the Sunglass
Hut.
