When we think of shopping in the Hamptons, our minds go to cable-knit sweaters, ribbon belts, and lots and lots of pastels, popped collars, and boat shoes. While we're not totally opposed to the prepster nation, up until now, finding a perfect t-shirt or summer party dress that won't be ubiquitous on the East-end party circuit was no easy feat. Well, the beach just got a huge edge injection with 20-somethings Greg Buntain and Jesse Warren's hot new shop Tenet (which means a strictly held belief—in this case fashion), an offshoot of their equally game-changing Aspen location. Housed in the former dusty bookshop BookHampton, the space was completely gutted to unearth brick walls, original pressed-tin ceilings, and old maple floors. Plus, the nostalgic Americana vibe—ginormous mirrors, custom copper racks, and shelves from old beams found in Red Hook—makes for a nice change in pace from their sea-side themed neighbors. Look for duds for girls and boys from an eclectic group of designers like Baron Wells, Loeffler Randall, By Robert James, A.P.C., and Alexander Berardi, letting you get a hit of fresh fashion whether you're a surfer or a see-and-be-seenster. So, if your speed is more Rag & Bone than Juicy Couture, you know where to go on your next Hamptons weekend getaway.
