Yes, ladies and gents, it's almost time for Vanity Fair's best dressed list, that beacon of all things stylish, chic, and, well, expensive. In past years the coveted spots have been reserved for Oscar-winning actresses (with professional stylists and unlimited budgets), and Royal Duchesses of Liechtenstein (again, with professional stylists and unlimited budgets). But now, VF has decided to hop on the democracy train (better 2,000 years late than never!) and allow us plebians to grace its pages.
Of course, this is Vanity Fair, and the editors aren't going to let just anybody be pictured next to the fourth-in-line to the throne of Monaco. Nope, you'll have to pass a rigorous selection process, and be approved by not only your peers, but a hand-selected committee of professional outfit-judgers. If you're fabulous brave enough to give it a go, submit your photo here (or on Twitter using #vfbestdressed) and hope for the best. The upside is that you can get a look at your competition before you submit, and plan your outfit accordingly — might we suggest an It bag and as many layers as humanly possible? If you're still at a loss, borrow from the advice Anna Wintour famously received before taking her post at Vogue: "My dear, only Chanel will do." (Huffington Post)
