Hands down the best fashion show to hit San Francisco, the Academy of Art’s BFA graduation show is throwing down in just two weeks and the honored guests (all imported from out of town) have just been announced! This season’s roster will include Yigal Azrouël, The New York Times sharp-tongued fashion critic Cathy Horyn (who you’ll recall wrote about the Academy’s MFA show in February), Nathalie Rykiel, the president and artistic director of Sonia Rykiel, the boys from Duckie Brown, Andrew Buckler, and a couple others. Always an interesting front row line-up, past year invitees have included fashion legends and rising talents such as Alexander McQueen, Azzedine Alaïa, Vivienne Westwood, Isaac Mizrahi, Patrik Ervell, and Humberto Leon and Carol Lim of Opening Ceremony, all luminaries who voted on which students should be awarded a set of coveted internships. While the general public won’t get to rub shoulders with the fashion celebs at the invite-only show on May 5th, there is, luckily, a first-come, first-serve presentation just two days later on Saturday, May 7th at 2 p.m., that will be open to all. Mark your calendars!
