After six days spanning over two weeks in the sweltering heat in Indio, California, anyone else feel like they need a vacation from their Coachella vacation? The music festival is one step ahead of you. In a surprise move — but also one that reflects the growing trend of musically themed cruises — Coachella has announced two ways it's hitting the sea.
Launching out of Florida this December, one Coachella boat is leaving December 16 and traveling to the Bahamas, while the ship taking off on December 19 goes to Jamaica. While the festival announcers haven't given prices or specifics, Pitchfork reports a sufficiently indie-heavy lineup, including Pulp, Hot Chip, Girl Talk, Yeasayer, Sleigh Bells, Grimes, Cloud Nothings, El-P, and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy doing, um, wine tastings.
Since Indio recently raised taxes, fans have been speculating that the metaphorical Coachella ship would soon set sail from Cali, but no one thought that Coachella would literally be put out to sea. We can't decide what sounds more fun — dying of heat stroke and trapped in a valley, or dying of sea sickness trapped on a boat? We wonder how the street style will fare on international waters?
