Kristen Stewart has been on a bit of a sheer-ensemble kick, of late. The young actress got cheeky in a sheer, floor-length Zuhair Murad dress on a recent Breaking Dawn red carpet, and honestly, we were pretty into it. Despite showing some significant skin, the starlet still managed to look elegant — always a difficult task when, frankly, your butt is showing.
In keeping with the trend, at last night's IFC Films/Sundance Selects premiere of On the Road presented by Grey Goose Vodka, she wore a beaded, minty Erdem dress with neon Christian Louboutin heels. Risqué for sure. And a little bit reminiscent of a very glam beach ensemble. But, kinda cool?

After all, Stewart's semi-irreverent style choices are what make her both a fashion risk-taker and a trendsetter. Our only wish is that K would've avoided pulling a Jessica Biel and instead left the dress unaltered, preserving its more demure silhouette (we're loving the juxtaposition of conservative and sexy in the original).
So, yes, we're torn. One the one hand, we love the original dress, and we don't really understand the motivation for shortening it. On the other hand, if you take a step back and look objectively, it's not half bad. Plus, we were there, and it didn't look quite so bare in person (photos always tell a different story though, right?). So, what do you think? Is this a tailoring disaster or a risk that paid off?
Also, if you're shocked by this outfit, you'll never believe what she put on next, for the after-party. Or maybe you will....

Now that's the K. Stew we know and love! And oh, hey there, Patti Smith.
