This isn't about us, but if it were, we would suggest that Lydia Deetz is one of the best, most fashionable characters in '90s cinema. Her droll apathy, her dark sense of style, her bangs...she really became a great icon for all of those girls nurturing the inner goth. And it looks like, dare we say it, she's back.
Beetlejuice 2 has been confirmed and Michael Keaton will soon unearth his creepy, "It's showtime!" voice for the film, but it also appears that Ryder is going to reprise Lydia, as well. She told The Daily Beast, "I'm kind of sworn to secrecy...But it sounds like it might be happening." She also acknowledged the hallowed nature of Lydia, who is so beloved by Burton fanatics. "It's a very precious movie to people," she explained. "So there are a lot people like, 'DON'T.'" But, she also adds, "It's not a remake. It's 27 years later. And I have to say, I love Lydia so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later." Ack. So would we!
The script is being penned by the same person who tackled the cult favorite Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and pays homage to the original. This may be the best news we will hear all day. Better than Seth Cohen and Blair Waldorf getting married. Better than everything. (The Daily Beast)
