We'd be lying if we said we haven't spent obscene amounts of time daydreaming about what two celebrities talk about when they get together. Like, does Beyoncé send Rihanna texts saying, "Hey, girl! Come over for dinner. Jay made pizza."? And, if said pizza night happens, what do they sit around talking about?
Amanda de Cadenet's (seriously underrated) show,
The Conversation, did a good job letting us in on what it'd be like to chill with people like Gaga, Zoe Saldana, and Jane Fonda. But, never have we had a full-blown, tangible, write-all-over book like The Believer's Judy Blume in Conversation with Lena Dunham to indulge in.
The 80-page mini-book features the entire transcription of Dunham's sit-down talk with the author. It's a candid look-in on what would otherwise have been a private matter. The Believer has gone and made us all flies on the walls, and for that, we are eternally grateful. The two fangirl over each other, talk oral sex, twerking, and faking book reports (how ironic considering they're both authors). "I just wasn’t interested in the kinds of books I thought I was meant to be reading," Blume confessed. "I wasn’t that interested in stories about prairie girls or horse stories." So, she made up stories for book reports and humbly bragged about getting an A on them all. (Don't go pulling that move for your next presentation).
You can check out an excerpt over here, or do yourself a solid and buy the damn book. It's well worth the read — trust us here. (McSweeney's)
