Transcendence Trailer: Johnny Depp Will Destroy Us All

We've posited before that Johnny Depp may be a dangerously rakish ageless robot. Well, it appears that, in Transcendence, the actor's character will be mirroring this dark nightmare by shedding his quite attractive body and metamorphosing into a sentient computer program bent on taking over the world — or something to that effect.

Playing with the oft explored but rarely well filmed concept of technological singularity (y'know, like in
The Lawnmower Man?
), Transcendence sees Depp teaming up with first-time director and long-time Christopher Nolan cinematographer Wally Pfister along with other attractive and competent actors such as Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Cillian Murphy, and Kate Mara. Apparently Hall's character uploaded the mind of her technologist husband (Depp) to a computer after he's assassinated by an anti-technology activist who probably also hates people who play Candy Crush on the train, too. After that all Depp hell breaks loose.

Highly attractive people emoting, Inception-like cinematography, and a disembodied Depp wreaking havoc on the nation's tech infrastructure? Seems worth a look come April. (The Guardian)
