Our across-the-street neighbor, The Cooper Square Hotel, may look a lot different over the course of the next year. Rumors abound that hotelier Andre Balazs will turn the space into the East-side outpost of his already obsessed-over Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District, you know, the one with the exclusive clubs and the beer garden that just won't quit. And don't get us wrong, we're very pumped about the potential upgrade, but excuse us for considering the following: tremendous traffic, tons of construction, and difficulty finding a cab (until we can buddy up to the bell-hop and have him hail one for us). At least this will save us time and money hauling back and forth to the Westside nightly weekly. If the project goes through, expect a total renovation of all of the rooms and restaurants— and, uh, us to become regulars, STAT. (NY Post)
