We're loving the moment that the updated skirt suit is having right now. Last night, at the first presidential debate of this political season, Ann Romney and Michelle Obama both worked the conservative staple in their own ways. The First Lady opted for a Preen fall '11 jacket and dress combo that she's now worn three times and Ann Romney paired a more traditional cream skirt suit with a pearl necklace and bracelet.
This probably isn't exactly the look the FLOTUS was anticipating to wear last night, on her wedding anniversary. She said recently, "This, you know, attending a presidential debate on my 20th anniversary is probably the worst way for me to spend [it]. ... I get so nervous at these debates."
Nerves or not, both ladies managed to look polished and confident, and more interesting to us, buttoned-up without feeling boring. Suddenly, we're feeling inspired to test out a few more conservative work looks this fall....
