Pussy Riot — the all-girl Russian punk band that was jailed after performing inside a church and calling for Putin to be overthrown — has caused a stir among supporters of free speech and feminism all over the world. And now, one of the members has officially been let out of the slammer! (Don't know what we're talking about? Read up here.)
Sadly, convictions were upheld for the other two members, and they will most likely have to serve out the remainder of their sentences in a medium-security prison outside of Moscow, where they are currently being held. The freed member, Yekaterina Samutsevich, got her sentence overturned in appeals after her lawyers made the case that because she was removed from the church before she was able to join her bandmates, she never actually did anything wrong.

Our hearts are with the remaining two women (and mothers) in prison, Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, and we hope this doesn't break their rebellious spirit. (Reuters)
