What is it with nudity and the English? We understand the prudish attitude when it comes to the Royals vacationing, and the shock (and probable guilty awe) they had when Harry took it all off, but this is just plain silly. Fellow Englishwoman and (international) regulation hottie Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has a new ad campaign set to be released in the U.K. for her new lingerie line with Autograph, and it's got some of the British public's knickers in a bunch. Well...just seven knickers to be exact.
Apparently, the images of Huntington-Whiteley spinning around and running her fingers through her hair while wearing her own line of lingerie are "overtly sexual" and "degrading to women," according to the seven complaints received by the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority). The complaints wondered whether or not this type of imagery was suitable for public display. Um, have they ever seen a Victoria's Secret ad? Or any ad, for that matter?
Understandably, seeing a moving Huntington-Whiteley pouting into the camera with little to nothing on is a wee bit sexual, but this is lingerie, after all, not Hanes Her Way. The owners of Autograph, Marks & Spencer, have said, "the brand values were that the range should stand for making women feel attractive and sensual from the confidence of wearing elegant and sophisticated lingerie." Indeed it's lingerie designed by a woman for women, and it's all pretty tasteful, as far as we can tell. We see nothing gratuitous here, just beautiful lingerie. What do you think?
