Ah, what it must be like to be Rihanna. She's got the world twisted around her manicured finger, and walks the fine line between carefully enigmatic and the spotlight's focal point. She's a darling of the fashion world and the queen of street-style cool. RiRi could go shopping wearing a potato sack and end up on a magazine cover — whether for best-dressed or worst, the point is, the world just can't get enough. So, it makes perfect sense that the king of baroque haute couture, Riccardo Tisci, would take it upon himself to design the opening looks for Rihanna's Diamonds World Tour. After all, he's already gifted her a custom Givenchy T-shirt with her face printed on it, so why not design another look for his muse?
Under Tisci's direction, the House of Givenchy dressed the pop star in a floor-length leather cape that the singer sheds on stage to reveal a three-piece outfit that's nothing short of opulent. Gold, leather, and bondage hardware come together to create a look that seamlessly blends sportswear with high fashion — you know, just regular ol' business casual for Rihanna.
"Rihanna represents what young and amazing means today," Tisci says. "She is punk and talented. She offers intelligence, energy, and pure beauty. Rihanna has what every girl aspires to have." Amen. The princess of pop walks across the stage like she owns it — and as long as she's wearing that custom black leather and gold-embroidered wrestling robe, who can argue otherwise?
