Bleached, Hunters, Ex Cops: Bowery Ballroom, April 23, $20
For those seeking out their weekly dose of guitar, bass, and drums, Tuesday's show at Bowery Ballroom has you covered. Ex-Mika Miko punk rockers, Bleached, headline the night, with Refinery29 faves Hunters and Ex Cops opening. Should be a fun night of pop-punk perfection.
Tuesday, April 23, 6:30 p.m., Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey Street (between Bowery and Chrystie); 212-533-2111.
Crossing Brooklyn Ferry: The Roots, Parquet Courts, Solange, David Longstreth, Antibalas, Dan Friel, Derek Bermel, Eddi Front, Eleanor Friedberger (The Fiery Furnaces), Exitmusic, TV on the Radio, Phosphorescent, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Doveman, Clara Claus w/ Bryce Dessner, Here We Go Magic, Japanther, People Get Ready, Pure X, and more: Brooklyn Academy of Music, April 25, 26, 27, $50/day
As far as music festivals go, Crossing Brooklyn Ferry is about the most low-key, stress-free one you'll ever experience. Hosted by the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the three-night extravaganza has some truly amazing acts (see above) performing in plush, acoustically perfect environments. And if you needed other reason to justify the $50/day price tag, tickets also get you into that day's film screenings.
Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27, 5 p.m., Brooklyn Academy of Music, 30 Lafayette Avenue (between Ashland Place and St. Felix Street); 212-353-1600.
Vampire Weekend: Roseland Ballroom, April 28, $50
Our favorite preppy indie rockers are back with an excellent new album and a big show at Roseland Ballroom. You've probably heard "Diane Young" and "Step," but if you've been aching to get a preview of the rest of their latest, Modern Vampires of The City, Sunday's show is a good bet. Sweaters optional.
Sunday, April 28, 8 p.m., Roseland Ballroom, 239 West 52nd Street (between Broadway and Eighth Avenue); 212-257-0200.
