So far, the Met Gala fashion scene has been a mix of the very tame and the vaguely punk, with everyone looking generally gorgeous as ever. Nicole Richie, however, really pulled out all the stops and went for a shocking grayish-white hairdo. Created by hairstylist Luke Chamberlain using hair paint, it's an "elevated, next level kind of punk," he says. We actually think it's quite reminiscent of this Tilda Swinton photo.
Yes, it's also slightly reminiscent of Hades from the Disney version of Hercules. But somehow, that's not a bad thing. Honestly, Nicole might be the only one who can pull this off. It's not exactly punk per se, but it is definitely unexpected, expressive, evocative — essentially a distant, but perhaps kindred spirit of the movement celebrated tonight. Her look really embodies the elegant, fashion-forward persona she's created for herself over the last few years. This might be a "look at me!" cry on someone else, but combined with her demure gown and just the sheerly serene attitude she seems to exude in this photo, we're buying it big time. What about you?
