Dance Through 12 Years Of Music With This Awesome New Short Film

While insightful films that reveal the inner workings of fashion publications and designer labels have gained popularity over the last few years, Red Bull Music Academy is releasing a short film to celebrate a different group of artists.

Too Old To Be New, Too New To Be Classic: 12 Years of DFA tells the story of DFA Records, the label that introduced dance music to the indie-rock world in the early 2000s, birthing a new era of music in New York City and beyond. Founded by James Murphy, Jonathan Galkin, and Tim Goldsworthy, DFA is home to artists such as Juan Maclean, Sh*t Robot, Planningtorock, YACHT, and many others.

And just in case the mini movie leaves you wanting more – we're sure it will! – Red Bull Music Academy is hosting a seven-hour, multi-room celebration at Brooklyn's Grand Prospect Hall on Saturday, May 25. The evening will feature performances by James Murphy himself and at least 15 other DFA acts, chronicling DFA history while providing an epic soundtrack for all attendees.
