What does the area you live in smell like? It’s a funny question but one that the founder of Bex London, Rebecca Goswell, asks herself everyday. After all, Goswell has created four unisex scents inspired by (and named after) landmark London postcodes.
There’s N6 (Highgate to the uninitiated) that smells of pink pepper, rose, and sandalwood. Meanwhile, SE1’s scent harks back to the area’s illustrious heritage as a spice wharf. Bergamot, citrus, and vetiver represent this intoxicating history. As for EC2, no there aren’t any top notes of Red Stripe or base notes of fried chicken; rather it’s lime, grapefruit, and juniper berry that dominate. As for W1X, the perfume that represents the centre of town is…all woman. Think rose, jasmine, iris, and violet.
We applaud this unique approach to capturing this ever-changing city through scent but can’t help but wish they would create a fragrance for our postcode. Bonfires, petrol, cherry blossom, and honeysuckle are all the notes we smell each and every day. So, Ms. Goswell do let us know when you’ve created SW17, won’t you?
