As Wimbledon kicks off this week, the athletes are all on top form, adhering to strict diets, extra workouts, and vitamin boosts. But, the real secret to sporting success? According to tennis champ Heather Watson, it’s cake.
That’s right. Cake. Watson (a.k.a. Britain’s number two), is putting all of her balls in the bakery basket, and preparing for the court with gooey chocolate goodies. Speaking at the pre-Wimbledon party, Watson revealed that whilst she’s staying at a nearby family friends’ Wimbledon home for the duration of the tournament, the real perk whilst there is the decadent home cooking she’s devouring. “The mum is the most amazing cook. They have become great family friends over the years and I stay with them all the time. She cooks an unbelievable Oreo tart, the best ever. But don’t tell anyone.”
A strategy a little different from her competitors, but perhaps it’s the sweet little secret to scoring match points? All that extra “energy” and all. Well, if it works for Watson…let them eat cake! (The Evening Standard)
