Marni’s New Evening Collection Is So, So Marni (And That’s A Good Thing!)

The Marni girl has never quite been the kind of person to dress up for the occasion. That's not saying that she always looks off — quite the opposite; she always looks awesome and so confident with her personal style that'll make taffeta smocks work-appropriate and lug-sole sandals work for the red carpet. So, for its first foray into "evening," we were expecting the opposite of a typical collection of body-flattering gowns and jeweled heels you might figure other brands to cop out with.

True to form, the collection is weird and awkward in the best of ways. Heavy fabrics, chunky accessories, calf-grazing hemlines, and boxy silhouettes are the anti-bandage dress and platform pump.
