Julien Macdonald + The National Ballet + A Heap Of Crystals = Perfection

The Coronation Festival may well have come to a close this weekend, but nevertheless, we're still giddy with the buzz the royal gala has left behind in the fashion world. Our favorite tidbit? For the dramatic balletic performance of Tempus, Julien Macdonald collaborated with Swarovski and the English National Ballet, to create not one but ten bespoke costumes for the spectacle.

While this was the seventh collaboration between the ballet and Swarovski, this is the first time all three brands have worked together. Macdonald says it is a "dream come true" to design for the ENB, and informs us that the costumes are "inspired by the glamorous interiors of Kensington palace and the colourful gardens celebrating the Queen’s Coronation.” Glamorous indeed, each ensemble is hand-embroidered with 20,000 crystals, requiring over 300 hours to complete. We hope the Queen packed her sunnies — blinding, much?
