UPDATE #3: The couple have released their first official joint statement following the birth of their son yesterday. "We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received." They further expressed their gratitude, adding, "We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone - staff, patients and visitors - for their understanding during this time." The Duke and Duchess are expected to leave the hospital with the newborn Prince this evening or early tomorrow morning, and will return home to Kensington Palace.

UPDATE #2: Prince William has released a statement simply stating, "We could not be happier." He adds that he will be spending the night in St. Mary's Hospital with his wife and the new little Prince.
UPDATE: The announcement has officially been unveiled on the golden easel. Prince Charles also released the following statement:
"Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine ,and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy. Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future."
After a harrowing day of putting off work to watch the royal baby hospital livestream, the royal baby is officially here! It's a boy!
His Royal Highness, Prince of Cambridge weighs eight pounds and six ounces, and was delivered today at 4:24 P.M. For now, we're still waiting for the white envelope to emerge from the hospital. It will then be delivered to Buckingham palace, where the baby's basic information will be posted on a golden easel. In case you were wondering, no, this is not a fantasy novel, this is a real thing that is happening (and has happened many times before). This is obviously our raison d'être right now, so keep refreshing this page. If somehow, some way, they release a photo, you know where to go! Now, time to go enjoy a royal baby cocktail...
