When a little birdie told us that Proenza Schouler had unveiled its fall ’13 campaign, we were met with goose bumps — in more than one way. With models strutting some Proenza plumage (and paired with coordinating winged ones), the scheme explores the idea of air, purposing atmosphere and light to evoke an ephemeral-yet-brooding mood. Shot by photographer virtuoso David Sims, Sasha Pivovarova appears alongside a few feathered friends in a series of five advertisements.
The full campaign won’t be published until September, but the few images we’ve seen surely forecast heavy doses of texture. Constructed with thick wool, tweed on steroids, and three-dimensional frocks, there’s more emphasis on the inevitable cold than there is an attempt to siphon summer into autumn. As we all know, birds of a feather flock together, so in hopes of adopting Proenza’s unmatched decorum, we’ll definitely be loading up on heaver textiles the coming season.
