Disney princesses, they've always had an appeal, no matter your feelings on fairy tales, right? And, thanks to Harrods, now you can literally step into their shoes. Make that, a designer version of their Disney-princess shoes — and clothes.
On November 13, Christie's will be auctioning off the 10 once-in-a-lifetime dresses, designed by the likes of Oscar de la Renta, Elie Saab, and Versace, and inspired by the names you know just as well: Snow White, Belle, Cinderella, and Ariel. Yep, those ultra-exclusive, handcrafted princess gowns that graced the Harrods windows at Christmas — and showcased at Disney’s D23 Expo in Los Angeles this weekend — will be going under the hammer, to raise serious amounts of money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
Christie’s Clare Borthwick says, “We are really looking forward to auctioning these inspirational pieces that embody both high-end fashion and childhood nostalgia.” Harrods’ Mark Briggs adds, “They caused a huge amount of excitement when they were first showcased in the Harrods windows and we’re sure fashion aficionados around the world will be thrilled with the opportunity to own something so utterly unique.” You can say that again. Who’s up for pooling their resources? A Disney wedding, coming soon to...somebody near you.
