The weird thing about red carpets is that, while the stars are usually dressed way-up, it looks quite weird from the perspective of the casually dressed reporters covering the event (yours truly), which is often held in the basement of a movie theater. It's a strange disconnect to be standing there in your jeans and sweatshirt, interviewing an A-lister clad in a gown worth several times your rent. So, we appreciate Olivia Wilde's effort to tone down the whole red-carpet situation at the premiere of her new movie Drinking Buddies. She rocked a Bruce Springsteen T-shirt with a flattering, asymmetrically cut skirt and classic Jimmy Choo heels — paired, of course, with a very smoky eye for maximum effect (and that blinged-out Cresta Bledsoe bracelet helps, too). But we can also see how this look might disappoint those who crave the glitz and glamour of a typical red carpet. She definitely looks beautiful, but should she have chosen a more formal gown? What do you think?
