Saturday Night Live's 39th season kicks off September 28, and so far it's looking like a blockbuster-level lineup. Studio 8H veteran, three-time host, and all-around icon, Tina Fey, will host the premiere episode, while the mighty Arcade Fire are set to perform. October 5, Miley Cyrus and her infamous tongue take over as both host AND musical guest — that's a full 90 minutes for the controversy queen, so we're almost afraid (but intrigued) to see what transpires. Power duo Bruce Willis and Katy Perry team up as respective host and performer on October 12, while later in the season, Lady Gaga is rumored to return to SNL — likely to coincide with her album release in November — as musical guest and perhaps host. So far, NBC isn't confirming, but we're penciling it in.
The season's rumored new cast additions also seem unconventionally promising. Fans of cult-comedy Upright Citizens Brigade might consider Saturday Night Live a bit pedestrian for their tastes, but they might want to tune in this season, as they'll likely see some familiar faces. Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney, Noël Wells, and John Milhiser are rumored to be joining the Season 39 cast, joining fellow UCB alumni, Bobby Moynihan and Kate McKinnon. If this turns out to be true, these new funny faces will help ease the loss of Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, and — sniff — Seth Meyers, come January. (TVLIN)
