We've been hearing chatter about the upcoming big-screen adaptation of The Giver for a while now, but this latest news has us scratching our heads a little bit. The flick, which will reenact Lois Lowry's utopian young-adult novel, already has bigwigs Jeff Daniels and Meryl Streep on board, playing The Giver and the Chief Elder, respectively. Now, the latest news is that Katie Holmes has signed on to play the mother of Jonas, the tale's main character.
Even more interesting is that Taylor Swift's rumored to be joining the all-star cast. Her rep has yet to officially comment, but the gossip mill is all abuzz with news of the singer's negotiations. It might seem a little out of the norm for Swift, but this isn't her first foray into movies — lest we forget her stints on Valentine's Day and The Lorax. Say what you will about Swift's acting prowess, but we're thrilled by the thought of her and Holmes teaming up. Could the two become Hollywood's newest It Girl BFFs? We can hope! (Huffington Post)
