As much as we like to have a cerebral moment at an art theater, there's nothing like indulging in a film where the only thing on your mind is what it would be like to kiss George Clooney. Of course, there are also those movies that take you back to your childhood (Cinderella, anyone?), which are always good for the soul no matter how old you are. Speaking of feel-good fun, Captain Planet and the Planeteers are making a comeback — but on the Silver Screen, not your television set.
A movie about the environmentally conscious superheroes has been in the works for three years, and is slated to be released sometime in the spring of 2014. Producer Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan, 2012, Chronicles Of Narnia: The Silver Chair) is shepherding the project — along with Don Murphy and Susan Montford — so we're thinking this is going to be much more than just a flash-in-the-pan film.
Maybe you were a kid in the early '90s when this superhero series was on. Or, maybe you were just a kid at heart who enjoyed watching five ethnically diverse teens use their super-powers to fight off villains like Dr. Blight, Verminous Skumm, and Looten Plunder. Whatever your reason, we say "go planet" all the way! (Empire)
