Cobie Smulders Demonstrates Why Braids Are Awesome

We all know that braids are awesome, but actress Cobie Smulders just schooled us on why we love them so dearly. For a red-carpet event in L.A. last night, Smulders wore a slightly prim sheath dress and classic red lipstick — but by coupling them with a casual, slightly messy, braided updo, the whole look became whimsical and hip in the best possible way.

The key to this crazy-pretty look? The braid was created low on Smulders' forehead and thoroughly mussed, to create a loose, devil-may-care texture. And, you know, if her sassy stare is any indication, we'd bet that Smulders knows how envy-inducing her look is. That's okay — we're totally content to admit the actress' total braid superiority (as long as we can steal her look for ourselves, that is).
