It's been a long time coming, but Tom Cruise is finally coming clean about the details surrounding his divorce from Katie Holmes. Regardless of your feelings about the megastar or his controversial religious beliefs, there's no denying that it's impossible to look away from the drama of it all. We've all suspected that Holmes left Cruise because she grew tired of the rigid regimen that a strict Scientology practice demands, but we never had the solid proof until now.
Cruise is deep into a court battle against In Touch (he's upset over the magazine's claim that he "abandoned" Suri after the divorce), and the depositions are forcing him to spill about, well, everything. As Radar Online first reported, court transcripts revealed all sorts of juicy details, like the actor's excessive use of private jets and the sad fact that he once didn't see Suri for 100 days. But, perhaps the most telling fact of all came when the actor was questioned about Scientology's role in his divorce from Holmes.
When lawyers asked if Holmes left him to protect Suri from the church, he resisted, saying, "I find that question offensive.... There is no need to protect my daughter from my religion." But, when pressed as to whether it was part of the reason she left, he admitted "That was one of the assertions, yes.... There are many other aspects to the divorce." Cruise also alluded to the fact that Holmes may have been considered by the group to be a "suppressive person," meaning she has publicly renounced Scientology. Cruise has yet to make a public statement regarding these court transcripts, so we can imagine that this situation is far from over. (People)
