It only took one (sneak) peek at this Brooklyn Heights office space for us to see that the folks at Homepolish — the interior geniuses responsible for the streamlined makeover — know what they're doing. Whether it's a total renovation or culling the perfect finishing touches, designer work by the hour to create a balanced space that just works.
Sayonara, emerald! Pantone has crowned their new Color of the Year for 2014, and it’s Radiant Orchid. According to the color pro’s at Pantone, this vibrant hue is “an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones” that “inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health.”
We know what you're thinking: "Use purple in my apartment? Puh-leese. I haven’t decorated with purple since my tween Lisa Frank years." But contrary to popular belief, this pinky-purple shade can look downright sophisticated when used strategically.
“Plum colors are both masculine and feminine, so it’s very versatile,” says Homepolish Co-Founder Noa Santos. “You can opt for a darker hue in the bedroom (hint: if you’re painting, go for a satin finish for a little reflectivity), or use vibrant accents in the bathroom or living room for some vibrant color.”
For a classic combo, we love it paired with gray, beige, and muted neutrals, or for a gorgeous, jewel-tone look, pair with deep hunter green and olive, and add some brass accents for added depth.
