Inside Karl Lagerfeld’s Bookshop In Paris

Dying to get up close and personal with fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld? Well, a visit to Lagerfeld’s bookshop on the Rue de Lille in Paris is the next best thing! 7L has been open since December 1999, when the literature-obsessed German designer — you might have noticed the imposing piles of tomes in his home in the 2007 documentary Lagerfeld Confidential — jumped into the book-selling business with a personally edited selection of volumes covering the fields of fine art, photography, architecture, cuisine, fashion, and design.
7L is truly a window into Lagerfeld’s world, and there's always the added bonus that devoted Karl fans may even run into the designer himself. But, the next best thing is chatting with the charmingly helpful Cathrine, Hervé, or Vincent, who all work at 7L and know the icon's taste best. Lucky for us, we were able to speak with all three in Paris this past week to get a glimpse at the best-selling books at 7L.
