Okay, so we know that weddings are expensive. That fact is not new to us. But, that doesn't mean we don't get sticker shock every time we see how much it costs to say "I do." Take, for example, the hottest new website to hit wedding planning in years. The Hitch is an Airbnb-type service that allows you to easily search venues in certain cities. Instead of painstakingly navigating outdated country club sites or cold-calling coordinators only to have them dodge you once you ask about price, The Hitch gives it to you straight.
With the click of a button, you're able to see what type of ceremonies or receptions a venue can host, maximum capacity, and, most importantly, the price. Sounds great, right? Well, until we did a little search-a-roo and saw the costs for ourselves. Looking to tie the knot at a quaint California vineyard? Hope you've got $44,000. Want a trendy affair on a Brooklyn rooftop? Try $50,000. The site may have a collection of beautiful spaces, but the dollar signs are enough to send us straight to City Hall — or even Vegas. Go ahead and see for yourself, but don't say we didn't warn you. (Fast Co. Design)
