Debrett’s, the iconic guide to everything you’ve ever wanted to know about etiquette and manners (and then some) announced its top 500 list of most influential Brits. And, we’re pleased to see some not-so-old familiar faces.
Debrett’s has been writing about the British ruling classes since 1769, but it still has its finger on the pulse when it comes to the homegrown talent making waves around the world. The guide consulted a host of independent specialists to ascertain who was the crème de la crème in their chosen field. From marketers, to retailers, actresses to supermodels, the list is exhaustive. And, makes this British writer even more proud to call this Island her home.

Kate Moss, Net-a-Porter’s Natalie Massenet, Christopher Bailey, Christopher Kane, and Cara Delevingne feature in the section devoted to fashion. And, as the guide explains about the runway sensation, “The effervescent Delevingne has an unprecedented global social media following with 4.2 million Twitter and Instagram followers making her one of the most influential people in the fashion world.” Amen to that.
And, while we always appreciate a chance to marvel at the incredible people who inspire us each day: This list was created with another purpose in mind. The guide is launching Debrett’s Foundation, a nonprofit organisation, which seeks: “to support, champion and inspire social mobility to ensure that the next generation of leaders, the ‘People of Tomorrow’, from all walks of life, are from all backgrounds.” The company aims to achieve this by offering “business etiquette” classes to young people hoping to enter the work place.
