Katie Eary’s Debut River Island Collection Has Us Dreaming Of Summer

At present, there are two things keeping us going: London Fashion Week and summertime. While summer is still a distant dream, LFW is just a week away. (Hooray!) And, River Island's new capsule collection with Katie Eary is exactly what we want to wear when the sun finally comes out (someday).
This is the High Street retailer's seventh collaboration that's part of its Designer Forum Series. The 18-piece line of hot-weather essentials will launch over LFW with the release of a short film on February 14, at the British Fashion Council’s Fash/On Film event.
Eary, a Royal College of Art graduate, began sartorial life in menswear and has worked with Kanye West on his namesake label. While we’re not sure what Mr. West would make of this offering, we’re impressed by the vibrant selection of graphic-print bikinis, daring one-piece suits, and dramatic maxi dresses. As Eary explained: “My starting point was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Except in my story, it wasn’t Johnny Depp, it was my muse (the strong woman) on a crazy hallucinatory journey through the desert. I then went on to design looks for her while she was on this journey.”
The range is super affordable, with all the pieces priced between £15 to £120, and we can see many summer wardrobes reinforced with an item or two from this selection. Heck, if this collection manages to somehow magic us away to a hot, sunny beach far, far away from our current weather conditions we’d buy the entire edit twice over.
