You have to hand it to Carine Roitfeld. The style icon has Tom Ford, Mario Testino, Steven Meisel, Lady Gaga, Kate Upton, and other fashion stars on speed-dial, and yet she's plucked the latest cover star of CR Fashion Book straight from the dregs of reality TV. Ladies and gents, behold the major modeling debut of Gigi Hadid, otherwise known as the daughter of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Yolanda Foster.
The fairy-tale themed issue — which hits newsstands February 25 — is the magazine's fourth and follows in the CR tradition of using "rising star" models. If inaugural cover star Upton and issue number three's Emily Ratajkowski are anything to go by, Hadid could be looking at a high-profile career that goes well beyond the odd appearance on Watch What Happens Live. Indeed, she's just walked the Desigual show at NYFW and is due to star in the next Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. The folks back in the 'Hills must be beside themselves.
The 18-year-old IMG model poses for Bruce Weber in her "All-American Fairy Tale" photo shoot. Bikinis, horses, and Hadid's angelic blonde curls are all involved. Meanwhile, an alternate cover features an E.T.-inspired shoot with Lindsey Wixson. Was Snooki unavailable? (We kid, we kid.) (Fashionista)
