Dakota Johnson Says Anastasia Steele’s Life Is “Kinda Boring”

Since landing the breakthrough role of Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, Dakota Johnson has scored a cover shoot for Elle, a shout-out in this month's Vanity Fair, and some steamy makeout sessions with costar Jamie Dornan. But, is the young actress starting to bite the hand that feeds her, or just keeping it real?
Joking that the film's fan base may be comprised of "40-year-old moms," (which she's "cool with," by the way), the 24-year-old daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson tells Vanity Fair that she's trying to sink her teeth into her role as the somewhat meek Steele. "[It's] a lot of getting into the character's head, in Ana's headspace before she meets Christian," she says. "So it's a lot of reading, which I love. She's an English major, so that's kinda boring."

Okay, so maybe Ms. Steele isn't the most riveting heroine in her pre-Christian Grey days, but we'd happily read the entire works of Thomas Hardy if it meant getting rewarded with the pleasures of Dornan's company.
"It's been a very smooth and fun and creative experience," Johnson adds. "I think going into something like this, you kind of have fears of what it could be like and none of those fears are happening. We all get along really well and the crew's amazing. We're just all trying to make this project the best it can be."
Not the biggest vote of confidence, but does it matter? We won't even pretend that we won't be there on opening night. (E!)
