Is Sheryl Sandberg Leaving Facebook For Politics?

sheryl-emphoto: Via Twitter/Sheryl Sandberg.
Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s COO, might be leaning in to the idea of running for a Senate seat in 2016. Even though money talks, and she's one of the wealthiest women in the nation with an estimated net worth of 1.05 billion, Sandberg isn't a shoo-in. She'd be competing with beloved Democratic California Senator Barbara Boxer for the role.
Before you start placing bets, keep in mind that Sandberg isn’t a total rookie, either. During the Clinton years, she served as the chief of staff to Treasury Secretary Larry Summers. Plus, her lucrative post at the social media giant means she has next to no need to vie for donations from supporters or super PACs.
As if the hypothetical race wasn't sounding contentious enough already, if Hillary Clinton does appear on the presidential ballot in 2016, she’d have to choose between long-time pal Boxer and the techie powerhouse. Sandberg’s plans to campaign have yet to be officially confirmed — we’ll keep an eye on her Facebook page for the announcement — but we’re already sensing a Twilight-like love candidacy triangle. What do we think? If there's anyone who can give the senate seat a major "status update," it's Sandberg. (Daily Mail)
