Is Andrew Garfield okay? That's the question being asked by many of the actor's fans after he missed his scheduled appearance at last night's Oscars.
The 30-year-old Spidey was set to introduce last night's heroes montage. Instead, the duties went to another man in tights: Captain America himself, Chris Evans. But, what made Garfield's absence so peculiar, was all the hype that surrounded whatever it was he was tapped to do.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Oscars producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan made Garfield's role in the telecast sound like he was going to be more than a run-of-the-mill presenter. “Andrew Garfield is going to be part of what we hope is a very moving moment in the show," they said, adding that it "will illustrate the theme of how movies have inspired. He is going to induct a new superhero into the fraternity of superheroes."
As we all know, none of that actually happened. And, we have yet to hear from the The Amazing Spider-Man actor's team as to why he was a no-show. In related news, last night a man dressed in a red-and-blue costume foiled a bank robbery in Santa Monica. Just sayin'. (Oh No They Didn't)
