You Will Always Procrastinate & You Should Just Accept It

We'll start with the good news. Apparently, you make hundreds of micro-decisions every day. And, here you thought you were indecisive, reluctant, and did absolutely nothing of note today. Not the case, friend. Hundreds of micro-decisions. The bad news? No matter how much willpower you think you have, procrastination will always win. In other words, you're pretty much going to always leave things 'til the last minute — forever.
So, what gives? According to Fast Company, "I'll do it later" is an attitude born of the mental and physical exhaustion from making so many decisions each day. And, research suggests that the only way we're going to get around it is if we spend about five solid hours a day being productive. As Fast Company points out, though, it's hard to get in productive mode after answering hundreds of emails. Your brain simply isn't having it. What we're reading, here, is that it's technically not our fault that we tend to procrastinate. And, perhaps, we get too many emails.
You can head over to Fast Company to try and better understand how you can circumnavigate this problem. Or, as Columbia psychologist Heidi Grant Halvorson explained to the Harvard Business Review: "Do yourself a favor and embrace the fact that your willpower is limited." (Fast Company)
