When it comes to Fashion Week hair, we admit to having a bias towards anything involving a braid. That being said, there's a new runway plait trend that we're torn about: braids that look like hats.
These 'dos are structural plait creations that hug the head, mimicking the shape of a cap. It's a very literal take on hat hair.
Is it cute? Is it weird? We can't take our eyes off it, and we're not sure if it's for the right reasons.
This is a look that's been seen in various forms at Creatures of The Wind in New York, as well as Alexander McQueen in Paris (pictured). While the Creatures Of The Wind braid looked like a cap pulled down over one side of the model's foreheads, the Alexander McQueen braid looks like a beanie hat made of cornrows. We unabashedly adore the COTW situation, but seeing them together, we're noticing that there's something a little bit unsettling about the trend.
We're not ones to shy away from weird hair, though — even weird hair that makes our foreheads itch just thinking about. But, we want to hear from you: Would you wear a hair hat?
