UPDATE:
Well look here, Andrew Garfield's people have just released a statement on Batkidsnupgate:

Andrew did the right thing for Batkid and anyone saying otherwise is flat out lying."
Strong words. We hope they're true.
One of the many tear-jerking reasons that made Batkid’s story so touching was that the entire city — nay, the world! — united to cheer on five-year-old Miles Scott as he saved Gotham (ahem, S.F.) last November. But, there’s one rather famous so-called superhero who couldn’t seem to get his act together for the sake of the little tyke.
The Academy Awards had arranged for Andrew Garfield (Of The Amazing Spider-Man fame) to present an award with our favorite pint-sized warrior. But, rumor has it, Garfield refused to stick with the script deciding instead to pen his own lines. After allegedly throwing a mid-rehearsal tantrum, Garfield was ejected from the show altogether, leaving Batkid sans sidekick. Way to go from Spidey to spoiled villain, dude. Our disappointed senses are tingling right about now.
Another (anonymous?) hero stepped in to save the day, though, and the Scott family was treated to an all-expenses-paid trip to Disneyland. As for Garfield, we think he needs a reminder that with "great power, comes great responsibility." (Metro)
