The New Louis Vuitton Bag Is Going To Be BIG (In A Tiny Way)

In the world of handbags, the Speedy and the Neverfull are the Madonnas and Chers — bags so iconic they're known by just one name. It's been a while since a fresh shape's been added to the LV roster, but with Nicolas Ghesquière's debut collection for the brand earlier this week, several choice designs were unveiled. Presenting sleek top-handle duffels and colorblocked doctor's bags, Ghesquière took a few Vuitton classics and gave them a modern twist. The one new bag silhouette that's received the loudest buzz has been the shrunken-down version of the Vuitton Malle trunk: the diminutive Petite Malle.
In a few different versions, the bag features a removable shoulder strap, a trunk-like clasp closure, and hinged top, as well as a removable, monogrammable canvas cover. Carry it as a box clutch or a crossbody handbag — the Petite Malle is delicate without feeling girly and immediately classic-looking. (After all, "trendy" is one of the last things you want your luxury handbag to be.) The brand hasn't yet set a price for the purse, but keep an eye on the site for more information — if this one's (literally) your bag, this is one waiting list that's going to be hard to push your way through.
