Computer Vision Syndrome: Do You Have It?

Most of our days are spent staring at a computer. Our jobs require it. And, like you, by the time we get home, the last thing we want to do is look at another screen. This is causing major problems for our DVR catch-up time. Major. James Hamblin, who may be the most entertaining doctor we've ever encountered, describes that feeling of fatigue and headache as Computer Vision Syndrome. According to the American Optometric Association, it affects nearly 70% of people who stare at a monitor for just two hours or more per day. Sound like you?
Fear not, for Hamblin has some solid advice. In addition to recommending things like keeping your feet flat on the floor, he also suggests taking some time out of your day to go and get a cupcake. We can get on board with that. Check out Hamblin's video for his full list of tips. And, right after you're done watching, take a break from the screen and grab that sweet treat. (The Atlantic)
