It's no secret that Karl Lagerfeld has a soft spot for Cara Delevingne. She's the first to bag an ad campaign, and the last to walk down the runway in the coveted final look. As the designer tells the Sunday Times, the strong-browed beauty reminds him of an old-Hollywood film star. Trust us — we didn't see this one coming.
"She's a character," Lagerfeld says. "She's the Charlie Chaplin of the fashion world. She is kind of genius, like a character out of a silent movie. I would see her better in a silent movie than a talkie because she over-accents the movement. Girls admire her like they used to Kate Moss. They all want to be as free as her."

Who knew? The Chanel and Fendi designer also lavishes praise on other style icons — in his own backhanded way, of course. Victoria Beckham "looks cold, but is not; she's cheerful." Kate Moss is "the free girl of our times...she was not living on Vichy water all her life." Ahem.
The royals also get a special mention. "Nobody does the job better than she does," he says of Queen Elizabeth II. "She is never ridiculous, She is flawless. For this job, in our day, she is perfect. She's not supposed to be a fashion icon who is changing fashion. The Duchess of Cambridge can do that. Kate is chic in a classic way, but sometimes, with her Philip Treacy hats, Camilla is wilder. I know people who know her. Apparently, she's full of wit and spirit."
Speaking of wit, we absolutely love that Lagerfeld calls his natural hair color "pee-pee yellow." Luckily, that's nothing that some white hair powder and a ponytail holder can't handle. (Vogue U.K.)
