Are There THREE Types Of Female Orgasm?

News outlets are all abuzz over a recent study discussing the female orgasm. It found that, despite assumptions that women can only experience one type of orgasm, there are in fact two — external and internal — both involving the clitoris. But(t), we wondered, what about the anal orgasm? With the recent conversation about the mysterious lady O in mind, we decided to do a little digging of our own.
There are all sorts of forums on giving a woman an anal orgasm (we’ll let you do your own searching). Plus, many women across the web report they can actually achieve orgasm without clitoral or vaginal stimulation. Is the anal O truly the unicorn of intercourse?

Renowned sexual health expert Dr. Laura Berman, says there are three types of orgasms: clitoral, vaginal, and blended (both vaginal and clitoral at the same time). Notice none of the three involve direct anal stimulation. And, sociologist, Dr. Lisa Wade, considers anal orgasms anatomically unachievable in women.

Physiologically speaking, female orgasms produce rapid muscle contractions both in the genital area and the anal area, meaning lady’s backsides aren’t completely out of the equation (even when not being touched). Women also sort of have a prostate, which can provide pleasure. It’s not a full-on prostate gland, as found in males, but we do have similar sensitive tissue, in the same area, with tons of nerve endings. However, in our own research, we've come across sex experts who believe anal penetration can only help women achieve orgasm, but can't be the sole source of a grand finale. With no studies pointing to a clear and definite female anal orgasm, it looks like the recent findings of two distinct types (internal and external) still paint the most accurate picture of what's going on. That said, when you find something you like, and that works for you, go forth. Don't be afraid to experiment with all kinds of sensations.
