Lorde Disses Photoshopping, A Flaw-Loving Playlist Is Born

At this point in the Age of Photoshop, not even an Instagram snap is safe from a little retouching. Heck, un-retouched photos have been known to command a cool $10 thou. Ridiculous? Most definitely, but it's the bittersweet pill we've been conditioned to swallow. Luckily, cooler heads prevail when smarties, like Lorde, remind us that it's okay to embrace the "flaws" Photoshop covers up.

The singer took to Twitter to vent a tiny frustration over some concert photos. She shared a collaged image featuring one retouched and one un-retouched photo. "[sic] i find this curious — two photos from today, one edited so my skin is perfect and one real," she said, adding: "[sic] remember flaws are ok :-)"

In reading the Twitter takedown, we were touched with a bit of nostalgia for Beyoncé's "Flaws and All," which launched into a swift tumble through a slew of tracks centered around loving one's flaws. And, since the Age of Photoshop exists parallel to the Age of Spotify, a playlist soon followed. Sure, the word "flawless" can conjure the very unattainable standards that Photoshop amplifies, but not everyone wakes up "like this." Here's to remembering that, flaws features and all.
