It wouldn't be a Seth Rogen appearance without either the mention of marijuana or a spotlight-stealing cameo from bro-friend James Franco. And, Rogen's monologue on Saturday Night Live last night amazingly contained both.
With the recent news that Franco had hit on a teenager on Instagram, it would be impossible for the actor not to knock his buddy. Rogen even joked that he had posed as the 17-year-old girl at the center of the maybe-real or maybe-just-James-Franco-satirizing-James-Franco scandal.
Because if there's one thing that typifies the Apatowian school of comedy, it's self-deprecation. (See Franco's role as Franco-the-odious "artist" in This Is The End and Rogen's constant reminder that he is, in fact, a pothead.) To round out the underaged-sex knee-slappers, Zooey Deschanel also appeared — playing up her hipster pixie-ness with a ukelele, naturally. Taylor Swift even showed up in the final seconds, mocking herself by saying, "Every time a man shows emotion, I appear."
Hey, if you can't laugh at yourself, well, you're probably not very funny. (TIME)
